Tranter acquires Spiral Manufacturer
Posted February 2009
Tranter has acquired HES GmbH Heat Exchanger Systems based in
Schopfheim, Germany, a specialist in the design and manufacturing of
spiral heat exchangers; mainly for the chemical, petrochemical steel,
pharmaceutical, food and wastewater treatment industries. HES has been
integrated into Tranter’s other operations and has been trading as
Tranter HES GmbH since February 1, 2009.
A spiral heat exchanger is a circular unit with two concentric spiral
channels, one for each fluid. The increased turbulence in a spiral heat
exchanger counteracts the clogging of the channels and reduces the need
for cleaning. When replacing shell and tube heat exchangers in a
refinery it can mean reducing the need for cleaning from twice weekly
to annually with significant benefits for productivity.
